Halloween. 1966. Twelve-year-old Mary Rooney slaughters her entire family with an ax and knife. Her motive remains unclear; to this day, she hasn't uttered a single word.

Now, it's 1976. The town of Woodcraft has reduced that massacre to a schoolyard chant. Halloween is celebrated with a carnival of harmless scares and cheap fun.

Until a prison transport crashes on the outskirts of town.
